This is a template for controlling Russound CAV6.6 with RTI RP-6 w/ RS-232 + RK3 \ T2C. It controls all 6 zones and sources on the first CAV unit (ID:01) via serial.
The Russound documentation examples are missing the Mute command. Does anyone have the Mute command for Zones 1-6 so I can update this?
This uses System Macros to send the serial commands from an RP-6. You can include these system commands in your macros. I have used this for several systems and it works great.
This code is free and open source, do whatever you want with it. CLIQK Labs is not responsible for any damage this might cause. This template should be considered unsupported by RTI and Russound. If it does not work or you need help you can post here. It was created in TheaterTouch Designer 5.1.0.1661

This is really a great template, many thanks!
In the properties of the RP-6 it looks to me like you may have had a 2nd CAV in the system. I'm interested in the methodology for that... Did you just repeat EVERYTHING as 'CAV2' on a second serial port? |

There are two ways to do it. The easiest way is to use a second serial port and hook it directly into the russound.. You would have to recreate macros for all of the commands and just change the port number.
The other way to do it is to daisy chain the russounds, giving the second one a different id. To send commands to the second one you still send it to teh serial port of the first, you just have to change the ID in th serial command. This also changes the checksum and so you would need to calculate all new codes for each additional russound ID you wanted to control.
I'm hopeful that RTI's upcoming release will have a lot of these serial commands already implemented in the serial database and this will be unnecessary. |
